Imagery - North Wind Blow, South Wind Blow, Northeast Wind, damn that's cold.

"A change had taken place in the weather the preceding night, and a keen north-east wind, whistling through the crevices of our bedroom windows all night long, had made us shiver in our beds, and turned the contents of the ewers to ice," (Bronte 52).

You know those quotes that make the hairs on your neck tingle? Me neither. However, I do believe this fits the criteria of imagery. I actually did find the descriptive language quite fascinating and fun to read, because I downright enjoy sadness in writing. Furthermore I appreciate the adjective describing the cold wind, "whistling." It presents an in depth description that paints the image melancholy or purple. When I think of whistling in general, I think of someone (in a perfect world) whistling a happy tune. However the wind is also cold and causes suffering for the students in Lowood. Point is, I like the quote, and it provides an "icy" taste in the book. Bon appétit.
